Mz. Grundy relates a short story from the story of "Standing Bear, Freedom Fighter," part of the Great Americans of the 19th Century Series. Standing Bear was a Ponca chief. When the U.S. Government forced the Ponca to move hundreds of miles away to the Indian Territory, now the state of Oklahoma, an infant died on the journey. The good people of Neligh, Nebraska cared for her grave because her father requested it. Here's the story.
